hay all, Well in built sound on my laptop and netbook has become rather irritating to say the least! One should have a good audio system, shouldn't one lol. So I've got a question for you all. What sort of external soundcard and new headphones should I be checking out. Is this creative x-fi any good, as I've read a lot about it. What should I be looking for?

thanks
MJ

Wow! There are external sound cards? I'd love to hear about them! Do any connect via pcmcia, serial or parallel? I could definitely use one on my KeyNote laptop and might have to use one on my compaq if I can't find the drivers for the built-in one.

To the first poster,

The Creative soundcard that you're refering to is the usb model with 7.1 surround sound, correct? If so, then that's a good choice, and will replace the audio from either your netbook or laptop. As for headphones, I'd say look around, and read many reviews. Look at your budgett, see what you can aford and go from there. I would advise whatever headphones you get, that they have a built in volume control, since the soundcard that you'll be getting doesn't have a volume control of its own.

i like the most recent version of the freetalk wireless headset from www.skype.com

very good, and wireless is fantastic, and even when wired, for charging etc, the newest version of this product has enough wire to give you acceptable freedom at your desk imho. the sound is bloody fantastic also.
